On 16 May, ICoCA organised a conference on the international regulatory framework for private security and the role of the International Code of Conduct during the 17th Pan-American Private Security Congress held in Mexico City from 15-18 May.
Organised by the Federación Panamericana de Seguridad Privada (FEPASEP) and the Asociación Mexicana de Empresas de Seguridad Privada (AMESP), with the participation of the institutions Federacion de Seguridad del Mercosur (FESESUR), Federacion Panamericana de Seguridad Privada (FEDECASP), World Security Federation (WSF) and others, this Congress brought together private security companies (PSCs), clients, government authorities, armed forces and police officers, academics and professional associations. They discussed the current and future challenges of private security in the region, including the regulation of private security in Latin America and the modernisation of private security regulations in Mexico.
In addition to attending the Congress, the ICoCA team also took advantage of its presence in Mexico to visit Members, prospective companies and PSCs’ clients to better understand their needs in relation to the Code and how ICoCA can support them. Through these visits, we aimed to gain deeper insights into the operating environments of these companies, the human rights challenges they face and strategies for implementing the Code.
