NEW ONLINE TRAINING COURSES NOW AVAILABLE

Thanks to the generous support of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (UKFCDO), ICoCA has released two new online training courses, which are freely available to all ICoCA Member and Affiliate company staff.

The first course is designed for managers of private security companies, and provides an introduction to the legal framework surrounding the International Code of Conduct (the Code). Lessons are designed to raise managers awareness about the Code, and increase understanding of the framework surrounding the Code, helping to demonstrate why it must be followed.

The second course is designed for personnel providing security services at private security companies. The practical lessons are designed to raise awareness about the Code and enable private security personnel apply the principles contained in the Code to their every day work and lives. This course uses section F of the Code as its foundation, and works through each of the specific principles regarding the conduct of personnel.

Both courses are currently available in English. ICoCA is looking for funding support to translate these courses into other languages.

UKFCDO support has also enabled ICoCA to produce the first online training course on the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) in eight additional languages. The course, also freely available to all ICoCA Member and Affiliate company staff, is now available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese (simplified), Portuguese, Russian, Somali and Swahili. The course has so far been taken by well over 1,000 people in over 60 countries and is being made a mandatory requirement by an increasing number of ICoCA companies. The impact of the course will be amplified thanks to it now being accessible to non-English speaking personnel.

ICoCA is also grateful to UKFCDO for providing support for enhancements to the training platform. These enhancements enable ICoCA Member and Affiliate companies to track personnel progress on ICoCA courses. All personnel who complete an ICoCA course and pass the final assessment are awarded a course certification.

Personnel from ICoCA Member companies can access the training by clicking on the Training icon towards the top-right of the ICoCA website or by using the direct URL here. The courses have been designed to work on both computers and mobile phones, enabling all personnel with access to a smartphone to be able to take the courses.

While these courses are currently only available, free of charge, to ICoCA Member and Affiliate companies, ICoCA is currently investigating the potential for non-ICoCA companies to pay for access.
