STRENGHTENING SECURITY PARTNERSHIPS IN WEST AFRICA

Great to have our Executive Director, Jamie Williamson, in Accra this week. During his visit, he participated in the West Africa Mining Security Conference (WAMS) and engaged with industry experts, CSOs and local security providers.

Hosted by the Australian High Commission, MS Risk Limited (an ICoCA Affiliate) and Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group (AAMEG), the conference provided valuable insights into the challenges facing the mining industry and local communities in the region.

Constructive meetings were also held with private security companies looking to work with ICoCA to promote responsible security practices.

Building on previous missions, this visit reaffirmed the increasingly critical role of private security in the region. It also served as a reminder that all stakeholders must work together to uphold the highest standards, especially in the more complex and volatile operating environments.
