ICOCA IN SOUTH AFRICA

For the first time, ICoCA exhibited and presented at Securex South Africa. In our initial foray into the massive private security market here, we presented on ‘The Hidden S in ESG: The Role of Responsible Security in Promoting Sustainable Business Practices’ and hosted an exclusive networking reception on the first day of the event.

With approximately 6,700 licensed private security companies and hundreds of thousands of employees, the sector is the third-largest recruiter in the country. The role and adoption of technology are growing rapidly, with most exhibitors at this year‘s event operating in the technology space. Big questions remain about how this technology is being used and whether it‘s being used responsibly with respect to human rights.

ICoCA was pleased to participate in Glencore‘s regional security manager meeting before the conference and to engage with the Security Association of South Africa (SASA), the regulator (PSiRA), the University of South Africa (UNISA) and more.

While ICoCA‘s footprint in South Africa is minimal, there certainly seems to be an appetite to engage with us to help raise industry standards across the country. We‘re grateful for the warm reception and look forward to working with a broad range of stakeholders here in the future. We‘ll be back in South and Southern Africa in February 2025 at Investing in African Mining Indaba!
